Over the years, you may have noticed certain recurring themes here. One notable sub-genre of the freeware scene which you might've missed is: Games featuring bugs. Specifically, in this case, games featuring worms. The Worm Wars series has spanned four games. These are Worm Wars, Worm Wars II, Worm Wars 3 and Worm Wars IV. The games in this series all received a review here - except for volume II. This review will rectify that neglect.

The story, as ever, is the same here. There are nasty things in the garden and you don't want them there. Fans of the series will already be versed with the controls and mechanics of the game. This entails moving with the mouse and shooting. Shooting what? How about machine guns, turrets, always a favourite: Flamethrower. There are more, but I won't spoil that surprise for you.

Needless to say, being the second in a series of four, it is a little rough around the edges. There are ways around that roughness, and therein lies a shiny nugget of a game. Its enjoyable and fun and like the rest of the series, you should check it out.
