Back in ’82 when times were hard, he had a light-cycle bike and a thing on his arm. The movie TRON is a mostly forgotten relic. It came out when computer graphics were just becoming an option and situated a person inside a computer. In order to return to the real world, he must play a series of games for his life. One such game is the light cycles, which became a hit phenomenon of its own right.

Many, many games owe their roots to TRON and specifically the light cycle section of the film – Armagetron Advanced is one such game. You can play against up to 22 AI opponents in arena sizes ranging from incredibly minute to freakishly massive. The enemies’ intelligence can be set by you and so can nearly everything in this game.

If all this single-player business starts to get a bit tedious, just select “network game” and as easy as that, you’ll be playing against friends or complete strangers. The online aspect of this game really is just that simple.

But don’t take my word for it, check out Armagetron Advanced and have a little fun on your light cycle. Just don’t get too sucked in.

There are more lightcycle games out there but this might be the best. Both single player (excellent AI) and network play (enough good players around) are fun. I like how you can get in the 'slipstream' of another motorcycle, scratching the lightbeam behind it. This way you can gain more speed and get ahead of that other cycle, trying to cut it's path.
