Welcome to Acid-Play! These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Acid-Play website and archive. By accessing or using Acid-Play, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.

About Acid-Play

Acid-Play is a historical archive of freeware PC games collected between 2002 and 2012. We preserve and provide access to these games as a digital museum. We no longer accept new game submissions, user reviews, or registrations.

Using Acid-Play

Age Requirements

You must be at least 13 years old to use Acid-Play. If you're under 18, you should have your parent or guardian's permission.

Acceptable Use

You agree to use Acid-Play only for lawful purposes. You will not:

  • Attempt to hack, disrupt, or harm the site or its users
  • Use automated tools (bots, scrapers) without permission
  • Upload viruses or malicious code
  • Harass other users or post harmful content
  • Circumvent any security measures
  • Use the site for commercial purposes without permission
  • Violate any applicable laws

Your Account (Historical)

While we no longer create new accounts, some users may still have historical accounts from our active period. If you have an old account:

  • You're responsible for keeping your login information secure
  • Don't share your account with others
  • We may terminate inactive or compromised accounts

Downloading Games

The Games

All games in our archive are freeware - they were freely distributed by their creators during our active collection period (2002-2012). By downloading, you acknowledge:

  • Games are provided "as is" without warranties
  • We don't guarantee games will work on modern systems
  • Some games may require additional software (DOS emulators, etc.)
  • You're responsible for checking system compatibility

Your Responsibilities

When downloading games:

  • Scan files with antivirus software (though we scanned them originally)
  • Back up your system before installing
  • Read any included documentation
  • Respect the original creators' wishes regarding use and distribution

Content and Intellectual Property

Our Content

The Acid-Play website design, text, and compilation are owned by us and protected by copyright. You may not:

  • Copy or reproduce the site design
  • Create derivative works
  • Use our name or logo without permission

Game Content

The games in our archive remain the property of their original creators. We host them based on their freeware status at the time of collection. If you're a copyright owner and have concerns about your content, please contact us.

User Reviews (Historical)

User reviews from our active period remain part of the historical record. These reviews were submitted with the understanding they would be publicly displayed.

Limitation of Liability

Games May Not Work

Many games in our archive are 15-20+ years old. They may:

Dispute Resolution

Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of San Francisco County, California. You waive any objection to jurisdiction or venue in these courts.

Entire Agreement

These Terms, along with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Acid-Play.

Severability

If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.

No Waiver

If we don't enforce a part of these Terms, it doesn't mean we've waived our right to enforce it later.
