Logi-Gun

Puzzle

Overview

Logi-Gun presents itself as a polished puzzle-platformer where players control one of five characters to navigate increasingly complex environments. Early impressions suggest a satisfying blend of dexterity challenges and creative problem-solving, though the gameplay loop may feel familiar to veterans of the genre. The core appeal lies in its weapon-based mechanics that transform standard platforming into spatial reasoning tests, creating moments of genuine accomplishment when solutions click into place.

Every level is completable, though, and will oftentimes just require a re-think of what you’re doing.

Puzzle Design and Weapon Mechanics

The game elevates traditional platforming through its inventive weapon system that serves as both tool and traversal aid. Rather than combat-focused armaments, these devices become extensions of environmental interaction - the grappling hook enables vertical ascents to otherwise inaccessible areas, while the "squit cannon" demonstrates particular ingenuity. This versatile tool fires adhesive webbing that functions as temporary platforms, creates wall-climbing surfaces, or anchors grappling points. Such mechanics encourage experimentation, demanding players constantly reassess how ordinary objects might enable unconventional pathways.

Level progression follows a deliberate difficulty curve that starts simply with basic switch-flipping and door-opening challenges before escalating into multi-stage puzzles. Later stages evolve into endurance tests where execution must match planning precision. While solutions always exist, they frequently demand unconventional thinking - what appears obvious at first glance often conceals more elegant approaches. This creates satisfying "aha" moments when players break through mental blocks, though the journey there can occasionally test patience during repeated attempts.

Presentation and Familiarity

Visually, Logi-Gun delivers a clean, polished aesthetic that prioritizes clarity over complexity. The glossy environments keep focus squarely on puzzle elements without visual distractions, though this streamlined approach comes at the cost of distinctive artistry. The core gameplay concept - using weapons for environmental manipulation rather than combat - shows creative promise but operates in familiar territory. The influence of titles like Abuse and TAGAP is evident in the fundamental mechanics, though Logi-Gun redirects these systems toward cerebral challenges rather than frenetic action.

In this glossy looking platformer, you take control of any one of the five characters and you jump around on platforms, flicking switches, throwing levers, opening doors and generally solving puzzles. However, what you use to control most of those puzzles are not just your hands and feet. There is an array of different weapons which all have their own type of fire. For example, the grappling hook lets you reach otherwise out-of-reach areas. The “squit cannon” fires webbing which can either be a platform or extra traction – or you can shoot a blob onto a wall, then grapple onto it. The design of the game is not unique. We’ve seenAbuseandTAGAPdo it before, but what they used for gunning down enemies in a faced paced zone, Logi-Gun uses for added dexterity. Don’t be fooled by the simplicity of the design, the actual gameplay is devious. Later levels become endurance matches between it-looks-so-obvious and I’ve-been-doing-this-for-ages. Every level is completable, though, and will oftentimes just require a re-think of what you’re doing. Enjoy.
