A very puzzling puzzle game which tasks you with simply flipping stones over… and over.
We’ve seen the basic formula before. Never, though, have we seen it quite so infuriatingly complex. Jam-packed with well over a hundred levels, Sequential is a game that any puzzle addict should not miss.
The game begins, as all the good puzzle games do, with a simple enough premise. The board has some of its squares orange. You have a flipper-type device. Use that to flip over the orange squares. However – the trick is, if you flip a blank square it turns orange.
Limiting you to a set number of turns on each level, Sequential manages to stay true to itself and yet deeply bury its true insidious nature until you’re already sucked in. Pay attention on the first few levels, because the fundamental knowledge of all the future levels rests with what you will learn here. The basic patterns-within-patterns gameplay is key to figuring out the complex levels you’ll encounter later on.
The title comes from the left hand side of the screen. At first it will indicate two icons: orange and clear. Flipping the icons in order of the sequence indicated will allow you to clear the level. Soon enough the game will expand to include not just two icons on the left, but more… though I’ll let you figure out that part of the puzzle yourself. Enjoy.
