Super Bart World

Super Bart World

Arcade

Overview

Super Bart World presents a quirky twist on classic Mario gameplay by casting Bart Simpson as the hero in a French-language platforming adventure. Early impressions suggest a charming but uneven experience that faithfully recreates the Mario formula while introducing some frustrating control quirks. The game's standout musical arrangements provide memorable highlights, though language barriers and technical inconsistencies prevent it from reaching its full potential as a parody platformer. It's a novelty that will primarily appeal to die-hard Mario enthusiasts willing to overlook its rough edges for moments of genuine charm.

The music is great, even for a Mario remake. It’s familiar but modernised. I’d recommend this game to anyone just because of the music.

A Familiar Platforming Adventure

At its core, Super Bart World delivers exactly what Mario fans would expect: colorful worlds filled with platforming challenges and enemy encounters. The visual design successfully captures that signature Mario aesthetic with vibrant environments and recognizable character designs reinterpreted through The Simpsons lens. Gameplay follows traditional side-scrolling conventions that feel immediately accessible to genre veterans, though the straightforward level design lacks innovation. Players guide Bart through themed stages toward the objective of rescuing Homer from Maggie, though the French-language storytelling creates comprehension barriers for non-French speakers that distance players from the narrative context.

Control Quirks and Musical Triumphs

Where the game stumbles most noticeably is in Bart's movement physics, particularly during jumping sequences. The character feels imprecise and occasionally unresponsive during critical platforming moments, turning what should be satisfying leaps into frustrating missteps. This control inconsistency stands in stark contrast to the polished feel of the Mario games it emulates. However, the experience is redeemed by an exceptional soundtrack that reimagines classic Mario melodies with fresh energy. The second level's background music receives particular praise for its catchy composition, becoming the game's undisputed highlight that justifies the experience for some players.

In this crazy but fun Mario remake, you play the role of Bart Simpson, and you have to rescue Homer from Maggie. Or something like that, it’s all in French so the story is a bit hard to understand. Either way, it’s Mario and you’re Bart. As in most Mario games the graphics are very Mario-esque which means for the most part they’re pretty nice looking and fairly easy to look at. So that’s always good to play with, something familiar and recognizable. The game play is similar, obviously, to Mario itself, which means that it’s easy to play and is not confusing in anyway. Though Bart himself is difficult to control, especially when jumping, but that’s the only real complaint. The music is great, even for a Mario remake. It’s familiar but modernised. I’d recommend this game to anyone just because of the music. Check out the song in the background of level two. Highly, highly recommended. The music is great. So in all it’s an OK Mario remake. Some points make it a less good game and some points make it very good. I would recommend this game to any Mario fan, if only for the music in the second level, it’s so cool.
