Spider Solitaire is a fairly simple download. If you’re not familiar with the game, it is easy to learn, and there are some easy-to-read instructions at the beginning of a round. The key is to stack cards from Kings to Aces, as you do in Solitaire; but there are more columns. And when you choose a stack of cards from the bottom of the screen, a row of cards is showered on top of the stacks you have made.

I don’t quite understand the scoring system in Spider Solitaire, but this free version does keep track of your score. The music is soft, but the card noises are a little distracting. Just turn off the sound and turn on some of your own tunes. The game play won’t suffer.

For a quick card game, that can actually become quite addictive, this download is perfect. It’s small, non-intrusive and easy to hide if you’re at work. But beware: as soon as you try to exit the game, an ad pops up. It doesn’t fill your computer with annoying, flashing windows, but it happens every time.
