A game which delivers exactly what it promises. Avoid the balls... and you live.
It’s a formula you’ve seen before. There are variations on the theme as far as the eye can see. Sure, some have square “enemies” instead of circles. Sure, some have flashier graphics. Some even have stories. But this one… this one… well, in this one you avoid the balls. It’s not flashy, it’s not grand and in all honesty, it doesn’t matter.
What I’d like to do is come up with some back story in order for the game to appear more interesting. I could relate the figures in the game to the characters of Shakespeare. I could postulate a deep, meaningful, hidden symbolic meaning to the game. I could do lots of things, but I choose not to, because this game just flat-out doesn’t need anything.
There’s no story. Not a thing to make this game a thoughtful experience. The graphics are blocky and the walls are the same Bowser castle boundaries we saw in Hobo Soccer. The music is instantly infuriating, wholly and completely annoying. The addition of old Windows-icon dynamite packs gives the game some longevity and an element of strategy – when the game begins to get too crowded, hitting the space bar will clear an area around you of balls. After some time, additional strategies are called into play as indestructible heat-seeking pink balls are thrown into the arena.
So, really, it’s a no-brainer. It’s not a puzzle game, or a head-scratching point-and-click adventure game. It’s a distraction. A mindless diversion which somehow bobbed up in the sea of games and could quite easily sink again without a trace. Will you miss it? Probably not. Will you remember this version specifically? The answer is maybe. Check out the music.
It's fun and addicting!
My high score is 6000
